The CDW Scholarship Recipient Enrichment Program focuses on making sure our women students, many of whom are nontraditional, have special programming aimed specifically at helping them build networks and succeed both on and off The Ohio State University’s campuses. See below for the variety of events that have been offered to the CDW scholarship community.

Free family event. Families enjoy hay rides, corn and sunflower mazes, bell cave, fun barn, petting zoo, pick a pumpkin, etc.

RPAC Study Day

CDW women will receive RPAC childcare passes to take their children to the RPAC childcare facility while the women go to an RPAC meeting room to study.

End of the Quarter Reception

Marcella's Restaurant

End of the quarter celebration, CDW women are invited to bring one adult guest to Marcella's to meet other CDW women and enjoy ice breaker games. A variety of pizzas will be served.

Making the Most of a Job Fair: Résumé Writing

With a Younkin Center specialist, Sponsored by the Office of Student Life Career Connection
This workshop addresses how to create dynamic resumes emphasizing both content and format as well as how to make the most out of a job fair. Importance will be placed on how to prepare for job fairs, communicate with employers, dress for success, and conduct follow ups! This workshop is in preparation for the Office of Diversity & Inclusion Annual Job Fair.

Interviewing skills

With a Younkin Center specialist, Sponsored by the Office of Student Life Career Connection
This workshop will highlight what to do before, during, and after an interview. Emphasis will be on career strategies and interviewing techniques as well as gaining familiarity with employers' expectations. Sample questions and practice opportunities will be provided, as well as useful suggestions to enhance confidence skills. This workshop is in preparation for the Office of Diversity & Inclusion Annual Job Fair.

Tax Preparation Workshop

A tax professional will provide students with information to successfully submit their taxes.

Cover Letters work shop with The Younkin Success Center
Feb. 2, 1-2 p.m.

Facilitator: Ryan O. Wilhelm

Students will receive tips on how to introduce themselves to a prospective employer and explain how their qualifications can assist the company. They will learn how a professional resume and cover letter may lead to an interview.

Budget and Investment Workshop
Feb. 10, Thursday, noon-2 p.m.
Stillman Hall Conference room

Facilitators: Perry Jeffries, Chase Bank and AntonioReese, Reese Realty

Students will learn ways of investing on a small budget and how students with low-incomes can purchase a home.

Study Day at the RPAC
Feb. 18, Friday, 5:30-10:30 p.m.

We will have quiet spaces for you to study and RPAC has planned activities for your children! All compliments of CDW and RPAC.

The evening's schedule includes:

5:30– 6:15 p.m. – Pizza Dinner in meeting rooms. Parents can arrive as early as 5:30 and RPAC staff will be scheduled to come up to meet you and your children.

6:15– 6:30 p.m. – Clean Up, parents help children with any bathroom breaks, diapering etc.

6:30– 10:30 p.m. Children under 5 years old will be brought to the Babysitting Room by their parents. Children 5-12 will go with our staff for activities held in Gym (Staff will meetparents/children in meeting rooms)

6:30– 9 p.m. Activities for children, studying for parents. RPAC will provide a snack and drink prior tothe movie.

9– 10:30 p.m. G-rated movie for all children in Babysitting Room

10:30 p.m. Parents pick up children in Babysitting Room

Employability Skills/Job Search Strategies Workshop
Feb. 23, Wednesday, noon-1pm

Students will learn additional skills in preparation for a variety of sectors and levels o fthe work force.

CDW participants and one adult guest are invited to eat, mix and mingle with other CDW women compliments of CDW.

Firefly Play Café Family Activity
March 19, Saturday, 1-3 p.m.

CDW participants and their families are invited to let their children play as the adults relax. Donatos Pizza and craft activities will be provided compliments of CDW.

CDW Spring 2011 Quarter Events for Re-entry Scholarship Recipients

Secrets of Academic Success
April 21, Thursday, 2-3 p.m.
McMillin Room
Walter E. Dennis Learning Center

As a result of attending this workshop, students will be able to: describe four strategies for achievement (each with two substrategies) that enable college success and apply the strategies to: managing time, learning from text, learning from lecture, preparing for exams, preparing papers, preparing speeches.

As a result of attending this workshop, students will learn: tips to help you explain your unique position as a non-traditional to your children, partners, and instructors; helpful coping skills for balancing family, school, career; and self-care.

Remember "paint by the numbers" when you were a child? Now paint full scale with the family!

In celebration of our collaboration with renowned author bell hooks, we will use two of her children's books as the focus of our large canvas for a CDW family painting project with you and your children's help!

The first 10 families will receive free bell hooks books:

Grump Groal Moan, Homemade Love or Be Boy Buzz and Belonging*

*One children's book and one adult book per family

Come enjoy an evening full of art, food and fun! CDW recipients are asked to bring one adult guest and young family members.

Study Day at the RPAC
May 20, Friday, 5:30–10:30 p.m.

Come study or relax for 5 hours in a quiet space with fellow CDW women while the children play in the gym and watch a movie with OSU camp counselors. Feel free to bring your children or nephew, nieces, etc!
