The Women's Place invites *man-identified allies to help create a more inclusive and equitable culture for women and minoritized groups at Ohio State. In this in-person workshop led by male campus leaders/Advocates, learn about gender bias, the skills and strategies to interrupt it, and ways to contribute to positive changes on Ohio State's campuses.

Ally workshops are part of the Advocates & Allies for Equity initiative launched by The Women's Place and partners in November 2016. This NSF, evidence-based initiative involves male leaders, or Advocates, convening to develop male Allies into a cross-campus network in support of advancing women and underrepresented faculty and staff.

This in-person workshop will take place on the central part of the Columbus campus. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing the exact location.

Why Ally Workshops Include Only Man-identified Participants

The facilitations include only men and man-identified participants to offer a safe and supportive space for participating in critical conversations. It’s an environment where men, often for the first time, can openly explore their questions, confusions, hopes, and concerns related to diversity issues in their organizations.

If you have questions about accessibility or wish to request additional accommodations, please contact womensplace@osu.edu. Typically two weeks' notice will allow us to provide access.

*Since gender identity is an internal, inherent sense for an individual, we specify man-identified as an inclusive term which may or may not correspond to a person’s sex assigned at birth or to a person’s primary or secondary sex characteristics.

The Women’s Place invites you to join us for the 3rd annual virtual FORWARD symposium. This year’s theme, “Time for Change,” reframes our relationships to time, money, and power in the quest for gender equity.

As people across the nation are experiencing burnout and economic inflation, these concerns may be intensified for women juggling careers and other personal demands. This event highlights ways that we can reclaim control of our careers, finances, and well-being by committing to personal and collective practices that can enhance our work and lives.

This year's symposium will feature keynote speaker Tiffany Dufu. Named to Entrepreneur's 100 Powerful Women and Fast Company’s League of Extraordinary Women, Dufu was a launch team member for Lean In and served as president of The White House Project, which trained thousands of women to run for political office. She is founder and CEO of The Cru, which helps women meet their life goals and is author of the bestselling book Drop the Ball: Achieving More by Doing Less. Her writing has appeared in The Oprah Magazine, ESSENCE and the New York Times.

“The greatest privilege that men in the workplace have had isn't a corporate or public policy. It's a partner at home. We do not need role reversal; rather, we need a new model of teamwork in which both parents are meaningfully engaged at work and at home.”
― Tiffany Dufu

People of all genders are invited to learn how equal divisions of labor at home and support at work can advance gender equity. Learn how dividing household labor equally between partners supports career advancement and how those who identify as men have a crucial role to play in promoting gender equity at work. Everyone benefits when those who identify as men work towards equity.

This free event is open to Ohio State faculty, staff, students, and community partners of all genders. Save the date and revisit this page for more details on the panels.

If you have questions about accessibility or wish to request accommodations, please contact womensplace@osu.edu. Typically, a two-week notice will allow us to provide seamless access.
